Engineer Drafter

About the Job

Cityside Fiber is seeking a motivated Engineer Drafter to join our Fiber Design Engineering team. This role is responsible for field data collection and documentation to support accurate network designs and plays a key part in creating cost-effective fiber plans for our FTTH projects. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and communication skills, adaptability in outdoor field conditions, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering and construction teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of aerial and underground utility infrastructure
• Collect and document pole measurements, attachment heights, and clearances
• Identify and classify utility poles while checking for violations
• Create hand-drawn sketches and recommend engineering designs
• Photograph job sites and relevant structures for design reference
• Upload and organize field data, images, and sketches in digital systems
• Inspect underground facilities (hand holes, substructures) when required
• Interface professionally with property owners and the public when needed
• Maintain vehicle and equipment to company safety standards
• Contribute to a culture of trust, integrity, and collaboration
• Understand and uphold Cityside Fiber's core purpose and values

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent or equivalent experience
• *3-5 years* years of experience in telecom field data collection or related work
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth
• Ability to learn project management software quickly
• Knowledge of telecom design standards and construction techniques
• Basic understanding of make-ready construction preferred
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
