Associate Construction Manager

About the Job

Cityside Fiber is seeking a seeking a highly motivated Associate Construction Manager to support the deployment of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks, focusing on the construction and management of outside plant (OSP) infrastructure. This role will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of OSP construction projects, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have some experience in telecom construction and will work closely with contractors, engineers, permitting agencies, general public, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, scheduling, and managing FTTH OSP construction projects (aerial, underground, and leased conduit).
• Support and collaborate with Construction Managers and Project Managers as needed
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure adherence to project scope, schedule, and safety guidelines.
• Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering designs, specifications, and industry standards.
• Support the permitting process by coordinating with local municipalities and utility companies.
• Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, progress photos, and construction logs.
• Track material usage and inventory at construction sites.
• Assist with the resolution of field issues, resident complaints, city inspector concerns, drop issues, conflicts, and change orders.
• Communicate regularly with internal teams (engineering, permitting, project management) to provide updates on project progress.
• Ensure all construction work meets local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety compliance.
• Support quality control efforts through field audits and contractor oversight.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent work experience in construction management, telecommunications, or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in construction, telecom OSP, utility installation, or similar field is preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
• Basic understanding of OSP construction methods.
• Familiarity with aerial and underground construction practices.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, permits, and specifications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with project management software is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Ability to work with general public to address issues
